Company History
Health Concern was established in 2007 and is dedicated to functional foods (spreads). Functional foods have traditionally been a complex product group and in the last couple of years this has not become easier, think about: functional food laws, EU claim regulations, patents, clinical research, food technology, marketing.

Only a limited number of A-brands are able to manage functional foods. For retailers it is difficult to launch functional food products themselves, due to the complexity. That’s where Health Concern plays a role: We can support retailers with the launch of functional foods (spreads).

A group of experienced food professionals in The Netherlands decided to combine their knowledge and prove that it’s possible for a retailer to introduce cholesterol lowering food under private label. After an intensive process of product development, trials and approvals in 2007 Health Concern launched a private label cholesterol lowering spread in The Netherlands. This successful introduction was followed by launches in Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Greece in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
